MONTGOMERY, MR., JAMES MURRAY Muskegon Mr. James Murray Montgomery, age 81, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Jim was born June 5, 1935 to Robert and Maude (Covington) Montgomery in Paragould, AR. Jim served his country in the US Marine Corps and the US Army in Korea and Vietnam. On March 11, 1972 he married the former Joyce I. Vredeveld-Hansard. Jim was employed with the City of Muskegon as a highway department worker for 26 years retiring in 1995. He was a member of VFW Post 3734. He loved his dog, Tippy, working in his yard and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. Along with his wife, Joyce, Jim is SURVIVED by his children, Ronald Lee (Linda) Hansard of Muskegon, Robin Lynn (Jeffrey) Dufort of Sparta and Rebecca Louise (Robert) Gifford of Goodyear, AZ; grandchildren, Ryan (Jeannie) Hansard, Robert (Tiffany) Hansard, Kaleigh (Paul) Pant, James Dufort, Robert (Kelsey) Gifford, Eric (Hannah) Gifford, and Karen (Jon) Hall; great-granddaughter, Adalyn Hansard; brother, Robert (Sherrion) Montgomery; sisters, Mary Lou (Sidney) Turpin and Debra (Doug) Varva; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Joyce, Joan and Sandra. A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be 2-5 PM Sunday, October 16, 2016 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210.
