Elizabeth King Obituary

Elizabeth Ann King went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 11, 2016. Liz had been suffering from Metastisized Breast Cancer, but now she is dancing with the angels. She passed into heaven peacefully, surrounded by her husband and 4 children.

Elizabeth (Liz) Ann King was born on September 18th, 1961 in Marysville, CA at Rideout Memorial Hospital. She was loved by her parents, Kenneth and Lucy Witherow, and adored by her sisters Marjorie, Elaine, Jenine and Patti.

During Liz's childhood years, she enjoyed riding her horse, Molly, climbing trees, swimming and spending time with her Grandma Nita. Liz was somewhat of a tomboy and as she grew up she worked together with her Dad on the family farm driving the tractors and working during the harvest. Liz was not afraid of hard work.

Liz graduated from Gridley High School in 1979. She went on to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse for 20 years. In 2000, Liz went back to school to become a Registered Nurse. Liz became an RN in 2005 and worked in the Cardiac Floor (4Main) at Rideout from 2005 until 2015. Liz loved working with the geriatric community, and felt a compassion for her patients. Liz was a nurse until her very last day on this Earth.

Liz married the love of her life, Mel King, on October 10th 1981 at Liberty Christian Center in Yuba City. Liz and Mel met at a church event, and the rest is history.

Liz and Mel have 4 beautiful children, 5 grandchildren, and 3 sons-in law. Their children are: Sarah and husband Jeff Sharp; Heather and husband Kelly Jose; Nikki and fiance Enrique Salazar- Turner; and Spencer King. Their grandchildren include Dalton, Abbi & Reagan Jose, Kayleigh & Tyler Sharp.

Liz had faith in Jesus Christ above all else. She had a passion for youth ministries including Mt. Lassen Church Camp and Teen Challenge. Liz and Mel were members of Sutter Community Church. She also served as treasurer for Twin Rivers Investment Club. Liz had a big heart and took in several friends of her kids who were in need of a home throughout the years. These friends quickly became her "adopted" children.

Liz will be remembered for her compassionate heart for others, her love of the Pittsburg Steelers, her strength and vitality, and, above all, her dedication to her family. Liz loved her family more than anything else.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hope Point Nazarene Church in Yuba City on Saturday, October 22 at 11:00 a.m. All family, friends, co-workers and those who knew her are invited to attend. Refreshments and free childcare will be provided.

Liz is an amazing woman of God and I'm thankful that she became a part of our family. She was always full of faith and joy. She made me feel important to her, even though we didn't see each other always often as I wish we had. I will always love always send miss you, Liz.
