Anna Hoffeld Obituary

Anna Mae Dieter Hoffeld of Daytona Beach, FL., passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on August 25, 2016. Anna Mae was the seventh of eight children born to George and Sophia Dieter, on May 5, 1930 in Baltimore, MD. She was a graduate of Sparrows Point High School. While living in Baltimore she worked for The Bethlehem Steel Company. She married the late Gordon (Whitey) Hoffeld in 1956 after they moved to Daytona Beach, and spent several years helping him in his service station business. Survivors include two sons, The Rev. Norman (NoEl) Hoffeld, Shakopee, MN., Phillip (Debbie) Hoffeld, Kiev, Ukraine and South Daytona, FL and one daughter, Nancy (Gary) Hopkins, Port Orange; nine grandchildren, David (Sarah) Hoffeld, Daniel (Hannah) Hoffeld, Christie (Jake) Uttich, Kyle (Brittany) Hopkins, Matthew (Heather) Hopkins, Nicole Hopkins, Danielle (Roy) Martin, Cassandra (Johnnie) Santiago and Ethan Hoffeld. She is also survived by 12 1/2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Anna Mae was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her home was always filled with family and friends and a slogan often used about her was, "Anna Mae never met a stranger." She was a music lover and it was not uncommon for her to be heard singing with her beautiful voice as she walked down the aisles of a grocery store or into a restaurant. Anna Mae loved the church and over the years was an active member of Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Daytona Beach, FL; Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Pierson, FL and All Saints Lutheran Church, Port Orange, FL. In all of those churches she was a dedicated member of the church choirs and actively participated in Lutheran Church Women (LCW). She also loved fishing with her husband, entertaining in her home and baseball and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. In lieu of flowers donations to All Saints Lutheran Church, 751 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange, FL 32127 or Halifax Health Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129 are appreciated. A memorial service where all are welcome will be held on November 5, at 11 AM at All Saints Lutheran Church in Port Orange.

Anna Mae was beautiful inside and out. We lived in the same neighborhood in the mid to late 60s and early 70s. Our children played together. Anna Mae mothered lots of children, including ours. She was a very giving person. She will be missed.

I grew up in Christ the King Lutheran Church in Daytona. I was very active in music and singing in the choir. Many of my fondest memories are of Anna Mae, mentoring me and singing beautiful music to the glory to God. When we moved to All Saints, she was there singing and giving glory to her Lord. She was always smiling and had that special Anna Mae walk and talk which drew people to her and always invited and supported you in everything. I was so happy to have had a chance of seeing Anna Mae again this past year, and appreciating all my childhood memories of this wonderful lady. Lord, take good care of Anna Mae and welcome her into your heavenly choir.

Anna Mae was such a fun loving person who lit up a room when she entered. She was like a second mom to us and holiday celebrations will be very different without her. Our love goes out to Nancy,Gary,Kyle,Matthew and Nicole as well as the rest of the family. We know that Anna Mae is singing in the Lord's choir now.
