Rollin is an ongoing presence in our world. He, and Reed and Kathleen have been the formative children from whom I learned (through you) how to be with my own children. I spent years listening to stories of your kids' growing up adventures, and I've always held them in my heart. All of our love is aimed in your direction--if there is ANYTHING you need--please do not hesitate to ask.

Maureen and Ross I can't say I'm sorry enough for your loss. It's unimaginable. All I do is just pray and pray for your family. I know the Lord is with you and will comfort you during this time.
Rollin will always be a Hero in our eyes and I'm sure many others. I wish I got the chance to hug him and thank him for his service . Both of you are also Hero's for raising such a courageous son.
Seeing all of the wonderful memories as he was growing up brought me to tears . You can see how close you all are . Rollin, Reed and Kathleen seem to have a closeness that all parents wish for with their children. The love you have for each other that is something that you will have forever. We are a phone call away. Please know we are here for you.
Much love and prayers,

First impressions matter, so be kind.
When I was seven, my family moved to Townsend, Delaware. I'd be starting elementary school. First grade at Townsend Elementary, the home of the Thunderbirds, would be my first taste of real school. I had been to kindergarten in Milsboro, Delaware, but this was even bigger to a budding student.
I didn't know anyone going into the school year, but early on I met the Carey brothers, Rollin and Reed. Reed was in my grade and Rollin was a little older. With their loud personalities, outreached arms, and overwhelming kindness, they quickly welcomed me to my new home. We were even in the same Tiger Cub Pack that met at the Townsend Fire Hall across from the school. That was of course, before they renovated the Station. Throughout the elementary school years we enjoyed birthdays, kickball, legos, scouting events, and everything kids do. I still feel a chill in my bones from a Christmas parade around 1998 where it rained the entire day. We were dressed in our Tiger Cub gear. Man, that was cold.
Reed and I remained friends throughout schooling, and even when I switched schools for 6th and 7th grade. When I came back to his school in 8th grade, it was as if nothing had changed. Reed was in my class again, welcoming me to another new home. Rollin was in high school now, with my older sister, but I'd see him at their functions.
Fast forward 10 years. We had been to different high schools, I had served a 2-year mission for my church, and had just graduated from college out west. I was working in Middletown over the summer while applying to medical school. It's the day after Independence day, 11pm. I'm in the Middletown Wawa, because that's what you do in Middletown at 11PM. Behind me I hear, "Hey Noah." I'd know that baritone voice anywhere, it's Reed Carey. Ten years, he hadn't forgotten. Ten years, how could I?
While I didn't know Rollin as well as I would've liked, I grew up with him. I've walked the same streets, played at the same parks, knew the same people. It numbs me that he's gone. Someone my age. Someone I played with. Someone that I could run into at a Wawa after ten years, and enjoy his company. We lost a good one today. Someone who made me feel welcome, on my first day as a stranger in an unfamiliar world. On my first day of my education that has now led me all the way to medical school. You can't replace that. And I don't want to. I hope I can repay it by welcoming everyone I meet, and ensuring their comfort. I'll have his voice ingrained with me forever.
Love you Reed, Rollin, and the Careys,
Noah D. Christian
