Marie Linehan Obituary

ADRIAN - Marie Linehan, 94 years old, died Sept. 11, 2018, at Charlotte Stephenson Manor.
Marie was born Jan. 12, 1924, in Dartford, Kent, England, to Florence Mary and William Summers. Marie graduated from Dartford West Central High School and she attended Bromley School of Art, Craft and Design. On March 29, 1945, she was married at St. Anslem's Catholic Church in Dartford to Master Sgt. Paul G. Linehan, Signal Corps, U.S. Army, and in 1946 she joined him to make their home in Adrian. In 1955, she became a United States citizen.
Marie attended St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish from 1946, was a member and past president of the Altar Society and a longtime choir member. For many years, Marie and husband, Paul, raised and raced Standardbred horses, including two state champions. She was affiliated with her husband in the Michigan Standardbred Auction Co. In earlier years, she was employed by Maurice's Ladies Apparel in downtown Adrian. Along with her church work, she was a 35-year member of the Bixby Hospital Auxiliary and a founding member of the "Globe Trotters Club," a group of foreign-born wives of American servicemen. Besides horse racing,
her hobbies were gardening and photography. Marie is survived by two daughters, Colleen (Charles) Donaldson of Toledo, Ohio; and Sheila Linehan of Danville, Calif.; three grandsons, Brian Donaldson, Shaun Donaldson and Dylan Shariatpanahy; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Paul, of 56 years, she was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Suzanne and Catherine; her parents; a sister, Catherine "Kit" Rudman; and a son-in-law, Nasser Shariatpanahy.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian, where there will be a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at St. Mary of Good Counsel Parish presided by Fr. What a rich, long life Aunt Marie had, but, still, so sad to lose a mom, grandma, aunt. Great memories of many get-togethers growing up. Love and condolences from Erie!
