OKLAHOMA CITY
Colonel (Retired) Bobby G. Knapp, of Oklahoma City, was the only child of Robert Lee & Ruth Knapp born in Semi-nole, OK on March 25, 1936. He died Satur-day, May 11, 2019. He gradu-ated from Seminole High School in 1954 and attended Oklahoma State University where he received a Master's degree in Agriculture Marketing in 1960, and his commission through Air Force Reserve Officer Training Program. While at OSU he served as President of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. In April 1960 he began his career as Personnel Officer for the 2589th Air Base Group, Dobbins AFB GA; two years later he was reassigned to the 908th Radar Squadron at Dobbins in the same career field. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Donna Louise Vandiver. They were transferred to the Portland International Airport in Oregon as Personnel Officer and from there, in May 1965, was transferred to the 33rd Air Base Group, Saigon, as the Personnel Officer. Going from Vietnam to the University of Oklahoma in 1966, where he served two years on the Air Force ROTC Faculty. In August 1968 he was reassigned as Chief, Officer Assignments, Air University, Maxwell AFB AL. While there he attended Air Command & Staff College prior to his departure for Air Force Military Personnel Center, Randolph AFB, TX where he served in various personnel management positions for eight years. In July, 1979, Bobby departed for Alaskan Air Command where he served as Deputy Director of Personnel and the Executive Officer for the Command. In 1980, he was selected as the Outstanding Senior Personnel Manager. Bobby retired from TAFB March 1988. After spending a few "retirement" months to relax, hunt and fish Bobby began his second career February 1989 at the Oklahoma County Bar Association (OCBA) as Executive Director. He was charged with building cash reserves, establishing confidence in the fiscal management of the Association and return to financial wellness among other duties. He established new computerized accounting system and a membership database. He retired from OCBA June 2005 after 16 years. After retirement Bobby served as President of Sunbeam Family Services and did other volunteer work in the community. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents. Bobby is survived by his wife Donna, and son Steven of OKC, sister-in-law Mary Jo Hamrick of Plano Texas. Viewing will be at Barnes & Friederich Wed-nesday, May 15, from 12-8; Thursday, May 16 ,from 8-8; with services being held at Barnes & Friederich on Friday at 2:00 in the Chapel. Burial will be Rose Hill Cemetery.

I am sorry that I missed this message late but I wanted to say that I joined The AGR in 1958 and Bobby was one of the most trusted and respected person in our fraternity. I followed his guidance and became the Noble Ruler in 1960. His early leadership was a very positive leadership in my success. He will be missed buy all.
