William Harvie Obituary

William Charles Harvie, 83, of Largo, FL, passed away on July 12, 2019 with his wife at his bedside. He previously lived in Bayonne, NJ for 40 years. He was born in Jersey City, NJ to George and Gertrude Hansen Harvie and is survived by his wife, Arlene Osterlo Harvie, 3 daughters; Deborah Celenza, Karen Mitchell (Rich), and Kathleen Rutch (Paul), 5 grandchildren; Lauren Celenza, Jonathan Mitchell, Erin Mitchell, Sara Rosenthal (Nick), and Megan Rutch, and 2 great granddaughters; Elani Garabito and Lyanna Garabito. He was a brother to John Harvie (Marie), Mary Deloughery, Robert Harvie, and the late Doris Wares, and a brother-in-law to Walter Osterlo (Elaine) and the late Dolores Meehan. William is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Bill served six years with the Marine Reserves. He was a grocery manager at the Former Two Guys in Jersey City for many years and later Pathmark's, also in Jersey City. He was a member of the Concerned Citizen of Bayonne, and the Bayonne Remembers 9/11 Committee. Bill enjoyed his time in Florida and met so many wonderful people, especially those in this Glenwood community. Bill and Arlene shared many good times, and fond memories. Family and friends may visit Friday, July 19, 4-8pm at the Bedle Funeral Home, 212 Main Street, Matawan. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 20, 10:00am at St. Clement's RC Church in Matawan, followed by Entombment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in Woodbridge.
