James Giger Obituary

James Ralph 'Jim' Giger
Sept. 28, 1953 - April 24, 2021
Jim Giger was born and raised in Port Townsend, Wash. He lived most of his adult life in the Pacific Northwest areas of Seattle and Portland. He would pass at the age of 67 in Sun City West, Ariz., where he enjoyed the last eight years of his life.
Jim never met a stranger, his smile was infectious, it lit up every room. He was known for his kindness, compassion and thoughtfulness of others. He was a curious man, who many would agree, was nearly compulsive in his attention to detail and had a far reaching memory. He was a guy of adventure, exploring different parts of the world. Sailing was a part of his earlier life. He was an enthusiastic rugby player, sports fisherman and bicyclist. His curiosity made him an avid reader. There is no doubt he lived life to the fullest; sadly he would pass from fourth stage pancreatic cancer just months away from retirement.
Jim's career spanned over 40 years in sales, offering him extensive worldwide travel. For the past several years Jim was the Western Regional Sales Leader for Owens Corning. In recognition of his high level of achievements he earned a position in the Chairman's Club three years ago. He was greatly respected and adored by his customers and colleagues. Jim invested in people, mentoring and teaching countless team members throughout his career.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jana Kay (Clark); his daughter, Hannah Giger and partner, Nadya Glizina; his brother, Richard Giger and wife, Janet (Redding) Giger; sister, Darlene (Giger) Hermes and partner, Ron Lee; his sister-in-law, Claudia (Clark) Black; and mother-in-law, Lee (Clark) Gilmore. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Katie and husband, Brad Elkin; and granddaughter, Blake; his stepson, Sean Laughman; and grandson, Beau as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Harriet (Giger) Halterman; and his father, Albert Ralph Giger.
A family celebration of life will occur at a later time.

My deepest condolences on Jim’s passing. While I only knew him for a short time, we enjoyed each other’s company and I considered him a mentor. Rest In Peace my friend and thank you for all the laughs.
