Genevieve Germano Obituary

AUBURN < Mrs. Genevieve Picciano Germano, 100, of 48 Mattie Street and formerly of Lake Avenue, Auburn, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, in her home. Mrs. Germano was born on Jan. 30, 1908, the daughter of Peter A. and Flomena Cinotti Picciano and was a lifetime communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Auburn. For years, Mrs. Germano owned and operated the popular Auburn restaurant, Jim & Floyd"s on State Street with her husband, Floyd Germano, her brother, George and her sister-in-law, Mary, Genevieve and her husband, a former Auburn Man-of-the-Year, were very active in community affairs. In 1974, she moved to West Palm Beach, Fla., returning to Auburn in 1995. She is survived by a sister-in-law: Mary G. Picciano of Auburn; nieces, Georgianne Picciano Centore of Manlius, Jeannette Picciano Wood of Seattle, Wash., Carol Picciano Murray of Auburn, and Delores Mott of Auburn; nephew, Anthony Picciano of Auburn; brothers-in-law, Frederick L. Germano and Sylvester Germano of Auburn; sisters-in-law, Nancy Germano of Auburn, and Rose Barilla of Brooklyn; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, nephews and godchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Floyd in 1985 and her 12 brothers and sisters. Calling hours were 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at Farrell"s Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. today, Sept. 26 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Clark Street, Auburn. Interment will be in St. Joseph"s Cemetery, Fleming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Germano may be made to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn, NY 13021 or to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 299 Clark St., Auburn, NY.
