Elizabeth Fay Obituary

She was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Brielle, N.J., the daughter of Stephen and Alice Murphy Bernath. Mrs. Fay was a 1939 graduate of Arlington High School, Poughkeepsie, and received her bachelor"s degree (1942) and master"s degree (1954) from Ithaca College. She was a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the Pacific under the command of General Douglas A. MacArthur. She married Theodore T. Fay of Quoque, on March 18, 1943, in New Orleans, La. Her husband predeceased her in 1992. She was also predeceased by her three sisters. Mrs. Fay taught physical education in the Genoa and Moravia School Districts after moving to Moravia in 1950. She was also an avid golfer who won multiple club championships at the Fillmore Golf Club in Locke. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Thomas Fay and his wife, Pamela, from Canton and Dr. Theodore Fay and his partner, Margaret from Amherst, Mass.; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. At her request, there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at Bird Cemetery in Locke, at the convenience of the family. I really enjoyed Mrs. Fay as our physical education teacher at Genoa Central School. She was a special lady. sorry to hear of her passing.

Mrs. Fay was my phys ed teacher at Genoa Central and was my favorite of all teachers. She was so special and I will miss seeing her at the local restaurants. We became friends when I married and moved to Moravia. She and Ted were a great couple and they will both be missed.
