Louis Akins Obituary

AUBURN < Louis Akins Sr., 56, of 145 Osborne St., died peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at the home of his son, Louis Jr. and his wife Tracy, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Carthage, Louis had lived most of his life in the Auburn area. Until his illness he had been employed for 11 years by Villano"s Deli. In addition to his son Louis Jr., he is survived by two daughters, Amanda Cross and her husband Rick, of Auburn, and Tammy Lawton; three brothers, Rick Pierce and his wife Marilyn, of Auburn, Robert Pierce and his wife Bonnie, of Spring Hill, Fla., and Ron Pierce and his wife Henrietta, of Syracuse; a sister, Darlene O"Hara, of Baldwinsville; eight grandchildren, Lillian, Ryan, Jacob and Adam Akins, Becca Lynn Brewer, Allison Taber, Kristina Harris and Luke Cross; his godchild, Shannon Lester; a very close relative, Edwin Van Benschoten; a very special thanks to our brother Pat; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., followed by a celebration of Lou"s life, to be held at 2 p.m. at Suzy"s Tavern. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home, 1778 Clark St. Road, Auburn. Some people strive during their lifetime to amass a fortune of things of material value, and never obtain it. Lou possessed a fortune for all of us to receive during his lifetime. It was his beautiful, gentle smile when he greeted any of us. ... It was his smile that was worth a million dollars. It will remain with us forever. To The Entire Family,
I was sorry to hear about Lou. I loved his great smile and that funny little laugh of his. I remember all the trouble we used to get into when we were kids. Velma was always there to straighten us out. I remember sharing coffee with Lou and several cookouts at his mom's. He never had a bad word for anyone. I will sure miss him alot.
Love, Terry Oliver

Baby Brother, no words can express the loss I feel from your passing. What a pleasure you were to have in my life. We shared so many laughs and experiences growing up, including punishments, sometimes merely because we just couldn't stop giggling. Even when lif'e's circumstances or disagreements kept us apart, there was never a doubt in "our" minds of our love for one another as brother and sister. Even though watching you suffer so these past few months broke my heart, I was in awe at how courageous you were dealing with the pain and facing the inevitable. What a hero and inspiration to us all. It only made me admire you more. Your love and memory will be cherished forever.

To my Father In Law:

Always there with a smile
His heart went on for miles and miles.

Although your gone you wont be forgotten
This pain sucks and feels really rotten

Your pain is finally gone now
We will get through ours somehow
A blessing it is, thats what they tell us
The pain has been put on all of us

The clouds have started to part
The sun is shining in our hearts
We know your in a better place
But Know you never will be replaced

Tell Grandma we miss her very much
Hug and Kiss her a whole bunch

Be in peace dad and rest so dearly, you are free now
Keep us safe and sound
We will keep you in our hearts and mind
All My Love,
Your Daughter in Law
