Nancy Katz

VENTNOR, N.J. < Nancy (Crawford) Katz, 89, of Palm Beach, Fla. and Ventnor, N.J., died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, in Ventnor following a long illness. Loving wife of the late Samuel Katz, beloved mother of Ruth of Chevy Chase, Md. and David of Potomac, Md. and Margate, N.J., devoted mother-in-law of Nancy, and adored grandmother of Jennifer and Allison, dear sister of Margaret Oberright (d.), Helen Checco (d.), Donald Crawford, and Joan Ringwood; kind aunt to many nieces and nephews. Gently cared for in her illness by Justina Armal and Veda Nortey. Nancy was legendary for her warm hospitality to many generations of family and friends. Born on Sept. 27, 1918 in Auburn, Nancy moved to the Atlantic City area in the early 1940s as an employee of Art Handler/Goodyear. She married Sam in 1951 and began her years of service to a number of charitable organizations, including the Ruth Newman Shapiro Cancer and Heart Fund, the Betty Bacharach Home, Beth Israel Congregation, the Miss America Pageant Host Committee, and the Atlantic City Medical Center. Relatives and friends are invited to attend synagogue services 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at Congregation Beth Israel, 2501 Shore Road, Northfield, N.J. Interment to follow at the Rodef Sholom Cemetery., Egg Harbor Twp., N.J.
