Gerald Brock Obituary

MORAVIA < Gerald R. Brock, 53, of Moravia, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at home after a long battle against melanoma. He was the son of Eleanor Brock, of Moravia and the late Charles H. Brock. He was a graduate of Moravia Central School, class of 1972, where he was on the football and wrestling teams. At the time of his death, he was a sergeant with the New York State Department of Corrections at Cayuga Correctional Facility in Moravia. Prior to that, he worked at Five Points Correctional Facility. He previously worked at Hammond & Irving in Auburn. Gerry was a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as an avid hunter, NASCAR fan, sportsman and snowmobiler. Gerry is survived by his wife, Kathy (Gorman); his daughter, Courtney (Richard) Kimball, of Statesville, N.C.; his son, Wayne (Jennifer) Lawton, of Moravia; daughter, Kendra Lawton, of Philadelphia, Pa.; and his grandsons, Sean and A.J. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon (Clint) Symonds, of Auburn; his brother, Tony (Kanina) Brock, of Velle Ville, Ill.; his father-in-law, Thomas J. Gorman, Sr., of Dumont, N.J.; a large extended family and his constant companion, "Molly." Calling hours will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Wade"s Funeral Home in Moravia. The service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Christ United Methodist Church, Moravia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY 14263, or Hospice of the Finger Lakes at 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn, NY 13021, in memory of Gerry Brock. May God Bless Gerald Brock's Family at this time of sorrow. I met Jerry at the Y and worked out with him, what a great sportsman. Jerry was a great person and will be deeply missed.
