Gram was everything a person could want in a grandmother! To live 96 years and have all her mental faculties still in tact is just remarkable. It's a shame her body grew tired, for she had so much to offer. For those of you that were unable to see her over the years, you missed out on one special lady! I will never forget the talks we had and the joking back and forth. She totally encouraged me to tease her about wild nights on the town (we know she didn't do any such thing), boyfriends (there were none), politics (one of her favorite subjects), and anything we could just laugh about. She looked forward to letters and cards from friends and family. More than anything she loved when someone visited with her. She didn't want help cleaning or doing yardwork, she just wanted to visit. She loved getting an invitation to some special function- the big thing was how to get her there! She loved the picnics in her back yard and the birthday celebrations. She told me she wanted a big one for her 97th just like her 90th! We had even talked about the guest list! To say she was an inspiration is an understatement. We all can learn from the life she chose to lead. To allow us to invade her privacy and lovingly care for her, so that she could pass at home as she wished, was just an amazing experience that will stay with me forever. I not only loved her in life as she lived it, but in death as she met it. Each letter in her name stands for something wonderful. The E for enjoying life to the fullest with each and every one of us. The R for her religion and dedication to its beliefs. The M for mother, for she truly was one of the best. The A for attitude, because she knew when to show it and when to hide it. Thank you for being you and giving me all that you have. I miss you with all my heart. Thanks for the memories!

Thank you Stephanie for helping so much the last two and a half years. You helped to grant Gramma Ermas'request to live and die peacefully in her own home. And, to all the family who helped, thank you.

Erma and my mother, Pauline Monahan, worked together for many years. She was a wonderful lady and I remember her fondly. My mom passed two years ago in January; I'm sure she and Erma are already sharing funny stories up there. Your family will be in our family's prayers.
