Norman Madsen Obituary

Norman C. Madsen Battle Creek Norman C. Madsen, 83, of Battle Creek, passed away on August 9, 2008 at Battle Creek Health Systems. He was born in Detroit on October 3, 1924, the son of Peter and Bertha Sorensen, he moved to Battle Creek in 1938 where he met the love of his life, Marilyn Link. After serving in the United States Air Force during World War II, he returned and married Marilyn in 1946. They were married 59 years until her passing in 2005. Norm graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Engineering, and worked for Consumers Power. He was then Vice-President of Keyes Davis Company for many years, and then Cereal City Wire before purchasing and running his own business in 1980, Madsen Wire Products, Inc. Norm served on the Board of Pennfield Township, was a charter member of Pennfield Presbyterian Church and for many years a member of the Lions Club. A member of Bedford Valley Country Club and later Battle Creek Country Club, he was an avid golfer, farmer and loved helping Marilyn run the Art Farm Gallery. Norm enjoyed life and people to the fullest. Norm is survived by his children, daughters, Coby (James) Olson of Summerville, South Carolina, Melissa (Kevin) Patrick of Apex, North Carolina; son, Kirk Madsen of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Betty Foerst of Gainesville, Florida; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. At the request of the family, friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. the Rev. Douglas R. Nettleton officiating. Interment will be at West Pennfield, Hick Cemetery next to his wife. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to The Neuropathy Association, Inc, 60 E. 42nd Street, Suite #942, NY, NY, 10165. Personal remembrances may be made at "www.farleyestesdowdle.com"
