Elizabeth Leiter Obituary

Elizabeth J. "Betty" Leiter Battle Creek Elizabeth J. "Betty" Leiter, of Battle Creek, passed on at sunrise on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born on April 1, in Gaylord to George A. and Anna M. (Kwapis) Moore. Betty was married to Robert Leiter in 1956, he preceded her in death in 1976. Betty is survived by daughters, Deborah (David) Bushnell of Zion, IL and Sandra Leiter of Battle Creek; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Moore, George (Rosemary) Moore, James (Betty) Moore; and sisters, Shirley (Jerry) Doyle, Margie (Ray) Slivinski, and Loretta (Ed) Huard. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Moore, and a sister, Rosemary Moore. Betty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and sang in the choir. She loved making candy and was a caring, fun-loving lady who touched many hearts. Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where a Rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at St. Mary Cathedral, Gaylord, MI, with the Rev. Fr. John McCracken officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Gaylord, MI. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Humane Society of South Central Michigan, or St. Mary Cathedral, Gaylord.

Betty and I became friends in 1953 when she and I became co workers.We remained friends over a 50 year span. She was a very special lady.
