Dear Son,
In just a few days, it will be Jill’s first year since passing into Glory. I know your heart is heavy with her loss as is our. But, rest assured, she is with HIM in Glory and doing great. One of these days, we will be together rejoicing and sharing with one another.
You and all your kids are still in our daily prayers and especially during this month and day of Aug. 14th.
We take comfort in knowing that God knew of all those who would be coming home early. I take comfort in His word 1 Thessalonians 3:13-15 which reads…
“And now, dear brothers, I want you to know what happens to a Christian when he dies so that when it happens, you will not be full of sorrow, as those are who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and then came back to life again, we can also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him all the Christians who have died.” As paraphrased in The Living Bible.
The Bible is so full of His promises, including His one telling us of knowing us before we were even born. So, Jill’s passing did not surprise God, only us. He now has her with Him where there is no more pain or sorrow, according to His Word. We will all rejoice one day soon whenever we get to Heaven, and then we will fully understand why we were all here, and then realize how much He loved us that He was even willing died that we might live for ever with Him and each other.
We realize the above is not new to you but hopefully will comfort you in this hour of remembrance in your loss of your precious wife and the mother of your kids. Her spirit will live on for many years in the lives of those she touched. I personally look forward to hearing Jill’s voice when I get to Heaven, saying “Hello, Dad, this is Jill.” I can still hear those sweet words whenever I pick up the phone.
Stay strong and know God is in control of your life and loves you very much and those of your kids. Someday, we will understand, but not in this world.
Your mom and I are so proud of you and the way you have lived your life. May God continue to bless and comfort you each day of your life.
In His Love,
Dad and Mom

Dear Son,
Your mom and I just wanted you to know you are in our daily prayers; especially knowing March 16 would have been Jill's 36th Birthday and that April 1 would have been your anniversary. So, during these 15 days of remembering, our prayers are that you will reflect back on all the good and pleasant times. That you will be thankful for those precious times together and remember how her spirit will continue to live on with you in your days ahead. YOU have much to look forward to as you continue being the loving person she adored and loved. The picture we made at Christmas is only a part of the many things God has blessed you with and will continuing blessing. We love you much!

Scott, We just wanted you to know how proud your mom and I are of you. We can only imagine how hard it has been for you with the loss of such a wonderful mate and kids. May God be especially close to you and the kids during this Christmas season apart from each other. We love you all so much and are so proud to have you as our son. God bless and stay well!

Dear Scott and kids,
You have been on my mind and heart since I learned of your impending loss. How fast it happened, how hard to grasp! The only thing that makes it possible to endure is our knowledge that a loving God is in control.
I worked for you dad, Scott, at CityTeam Ministries and have kept up with your folks and family through emails. They are very dear to me.
I leave all of you in God's care.

Scott and family,
We were so saddened to hear of Jill's sudden passing. Though you probably don't remember us when we visited you in Haiti, Scott, your family has always been dear to us. We continue to pray that God will comfort each of you as only He is able. Our small group is also praying for you all.
In His love,

Scott,
You won't remember me, but your dad and mother were good freinds and high school classmates. The last time I saw you was as a very small boy. We have prayed for your peace, and our church continues in prayer for you and your family. May God's great peace be with you.
