Ronald David "Ron" Burgess

Ronald Burgess Obituary

Ronald David "Ron" Burgess Ronald David "Ron" Burgess, loving husband, father, brother and friend, went home to be with his Lord Friday morning, August 15, 2008. Ron was born August 12, 1957 to David and Betty Burgess. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1975. Ron's life was a collage of many skills and qualities. He enjoyed fishing, reading, playing his guitar, music, and spending time with his family and friends. Ron was a devoted husband who had spent the last 20 years taking loving and tender care of his critically ill wife. Ron will be missed by many and is survived by his wife, Candy (Short) Burgess; daughter, Stephanie (Will) Williavize; sons, David Burgess and Rex Allen Burgess; stepdaughter, Jennifer Davis; granddaughter, Alexis; and sisters, Darlene (Bill) Williams, Shirley (Don) Sexton, Bonny (Phil) Meyers, and Sherry (Rick) Raymond. Ron had many friends and would not hesitate to lend a helping hand or give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His heart was tender and his love was great. Ron's love for his family and friends can best be described in the Bible passage, John 15: 12,13 "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this; that he lay down his life for his friends." Ron was that friend. His love had no end, and he will be missed by us all. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Royal Funeral Home. Services will take place Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may go to Hospice or Cheff Center.

Ron was a frequent visitor here at the Athens Community Library, always looking for some entertainment to ease his wife's suffering. He often told of his love and concern for her. We will miss him.
