Cordelia E. "Betty" Harnish

Cordelia E. "Betty" Harnish Battle Creek Cordelia E. "Betty" Harnish, 93, of Battle Creek, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 14, 2008. She was born on December 30, 1914 in Sandusky, Indiana the daughter of Andy and Grace Goodpaster. Betty had worked for Robinson's Department Store, Jiffy Dry Cleaners and the Goodwill Store from which she retired on September 29, 1992. She was a member of Southside Bible Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served on the mission committee, and was a member of the prayer chain. She had also volunteered at the Haven of Rest working with the children's ministry for many years. Betty is survived by a son: Richard Harnish of Battle Creek; five daughters: Sandra (Dick) Finney, Illa (Don) Huff, and Pamela (Bob) Sackett, all of Battle Creek, Susan Barnett of Pensacola, FL and Mary (Robert) Waters of Pace, FL; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, six sisters, four sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, one grandson: Steven Howard, an infant great-grandson: Matthew Howard, and her former husband: Walter Harnish. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Southside Bible Church, 4515 Beckley Road with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Southside Bible Church or the Gideons.
