Ivan L. Fast

Ivan L. Fast Coldwater Ivan L. Fast, of Coldwater, passed away in Marshall on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at age 85. He was born on June 28, 1923 in North Adams, the son of Raymond Dallas and Harriet Alta (Foust) Fast. Ivan graduated from Homer High School in 1941. On August 29, 1943 he married Elva Marie Rising in Homer. He worked for Vaughn Brothers Farms in Albion until 1946, farmed in Maple Grove until 1951, and then moved with Elva to their farm in Clarendon Township where they farmed for 38 years and ran a trucking, grain, fertilizer and seed business for 25 years. He was a member of Progressive Farmers of Calhoun County, Calhoun County Farm Bureau, and Registered Angus Cattle Association and served on the Homer Community School Board. After moving to Morrison Lake near Coldwater in 1989, he and Elva attended Girard United Methodist Church. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and H. Alta Fast; grandson, Kevin Fast; brothers, Clarence (Evelyn) Fast and G. Dale (Margaret) Fast; and sister, Eunice (Laurel) Poling. He is survived by his wife, Elva Fast of Coldwater; (2) brothers, Vernon (Glenna) Fast of Marshall and Marion (Sara) Fast of Longmont, CO; (2) sons, Larry (LeAnn) Fast of Paradise, TX, and Raymond (Brenda) Fast of Coldwater; (1) daughter, Janyth (Gus) Evans of Homer; (2) grandsons, Scott (Brenda) Griffiths of Tekonsha and Justin Fast of Coldwater; (3) granddaughters, Christy (Rick) Boden of Homer, Karrie (Gary) Noel of Whitehall, and Melissa (David) Jones of Olmsted Falls, OH; (5) great-grandsons, Adam Boden of Homer, Jonathan and Ross Griffiths of Tekonsha, Gavin and Cameron Jones of Olmsted Falls, OH; and (2) great- granddaughters, Lindsey Boden of Homer and Shelbie Noel of Whitehall. His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, with Pastor Bruce Kintigh officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Homer. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19 from 5 - 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Girard United Methodist Church. www.kevin tiddfuneralhome.com
