Arthur White Obituary

Arthur Thomas "Tom" White Pennfield Twp. Arthur Thomas "Tom" White, 53, of Pennfield Township, Battle Creek, Michigan passed softly in his sleep on August 22, 2008. He was born November 24, 1954 to the late Nelson M. White and Darvin N. Gaines. Tom attended and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1973. Continuing his education, he graduated with honors from Nazareth College in 1981, and went on to obtain his Certified Public Accounting license in 1988, qualifying in the top 10% nationally of first time exam completion. After his tenure as Chief Financial Officer for Community Mental Health, now known as Summit Pointe, Battle Creek, he completed his apprenticeship with Dotson-Alles, P.C. Shortly thereafter, 1990, he opened and operated his accounting firm, White & Company, P.C., in Battle Creek for the last 18 years. During his life he was passionate about horseracing and shared that passion with his wife, Patty, of 31 years. Together they were members of the Michigan Harness Horse Association and have traveled to each fairground and racetrack in Michigan to avidly succeed in the sport of horseracing for the pure passion of Tom's competitive nature and love of horses. Surviving are his wife, Patricia; five children: Erin (Lane) and husband Jason, Sarah, Ruth, Nathan and fiancee Tasha, and Matthew; and five grandchildren, Owen, Emily, Hanna, Kamrin, and Ava, all of Battle Creek, Michigan. Also surviving are two sisters: Judith White and Elizabeth Marie White, and a brother, John White, all of Battle Creek. At the request of the family, friends may call on Tuesday, August 26th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. The funeral service to celebrate Tom's life will be held on Wednesday, August 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1625 Capital Avenue NE with Pastor Brian Spencer, officiating. If onlythere were something friends could say or do-some way they might express their thoughts to help and comfort you, and yet perhaps just knowing that we all care will help at least in some small way, to ease the loss you bear.
