Mary L. Pruitt

Mary L. Pruitt Battle Creek Mary L. Pruitt, age 81, of Battle Creek, died Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Battle Creek Health System. Mary was born on February 14, 1927 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Lawrence L. and Genevieve L. (Fredenburg) O'Connell. She had been a lifelong resident of the Battle Creek area graduating from St. Philip High School in 1944. On March 12, 1945, at St. Philip Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Pruitt who preceded her in death on February 14, 1987. She was employed as a service representative at Social Security for 24 years retiring in 1989. She previously worked at Kellogg's and Clark Equipment. She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church. Surviving are children, Nancy L. Redmond of Battle Creek, Thomas A. (Julie) Pruitt of Olivet, MI and R. Bryan Pruitt of Battle Creek; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Arlene (Keith) Bernard of Battle Creek, Judy Meskel of Aurora, CO, Marcia (Don) Sosinski of Battle Creek and Sandy (Terry) Summers of East Leroy. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ardith E. Michael, Linda L. Reece; a brother, Albert W. O'Connell; and 2 grandchildren, Jason Lee Pruitt and Bryan Sterling Pruitt. Visitation will be held Monday with family present from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at St. Philip Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Charles H. Fischer officiating. Interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Charity of Choice.
