Stefan Gara Battle Creek Stefan Gara, age 86, of Battle Creek, died Thursday, September 4, 2008, at Battle Creek Health System. Stefan was born on June 14, 1922, in Krakow, Poland, the son of Andrzej and Bronilawa (Zgud) Gara. He had been an area resident for 52 years. He was employed as an installer with the Battle Creek Gas Company for 32 years until his retirement. In 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Jacoba Tenheggeler who survives. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Alexander Gara. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 8, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Xavier officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
