Margaret Rummel Obituary

Margaret C. Rummel Battle Creek Margaret C. Rummel, 90, of Battle Creek, died at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Care Residence on Friday, September 12, 2008. She was born in Chicago, IL to Louis and Constance (Ogg) Tighe. As a child, she moved to California with her family, where she spent over 75 years of her life, coming to Battle Creek in 2004. Margaret was a graduate of Bell High School in Bell, CA. After two years of community college, she was employed as an X-ray technician. Margaret married J. Fred Campbell on June 12, 1943. She was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in providing a beautiful and loving home for her family. She shared her husband's love of golf, and she supported her children in all their school activities. She also served for many years as a Girl Scout leader. After her husband of 22 years passed away, Margaret returned to work as an administrative assistant at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica. She retired from that position after 25 years. Margaret was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She joined in her twenties, and maintained a close relationship with the members of her chapter throughout her entire life. Margaret married Raymond R. Rummel on August 23, 1975. Surviving are her husband Ray; two daughters, Catherine M. Mulligan of Redmond, WA and Marilyn C. (Emery) Okos of Battle Creek; a stepdaughter, Joella Gustafson of Truckee, CA; a stepson, John (Kathy) Rummel of Bay Point, CA; and two grandchildren, Sara Catherine Okos and Brian Campbell Mulligan. A private family service will be held in Lake Tahoe, California. Memorial contributions may be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Care, 166 E. Goodale, Battle Creek, MI 49017.
