Leslie Wells Obituary

Leslie Fern Wells Charlotte Leslie Fern Wells, 89, of Charlotte, MI, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 surrounded by family and friends. Les was born September 15, 1919 in Brookfield Township, MI the son of Homer and Pearle (Leslie) Wells. He was a Fireman First Class in the U.S. Navy serving in WWII, he was also a member of the Charlotte Eagles #3552 and Moose Lodge #1933. After serving his country he worked at Reo in Lansing; he then operated his own can milk truck delivering to Pet Milk Company in Charlotte; he then purchased a bulk milk truck delivering for Michigan Milk Producers Assoc. to Ovid and Detroit; hauled cars for Howard Sobers of Lansing and Fleet Carriers of Flint; and delivered agricultural lime to many farmers in the tri-county area. After his retirement, he worked for Davis Pontiac of Charlotte. He loved spending time with his family and friends and helping others in need. He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Richard) Watson of Pennsylvania, Donis (Larry) Osborn of Charlotte; son, Gary (Kathy) Wells of Kentwood; grandchildren, Randy Vaughn of Lansing, Shellie (Ron) Budd of Charlotte, Sara Bostwick of Pennsylvania, Amy (Kelly) Carr of Florida, Rachel (Joel) Heagle of Byron Center, Aaron (Diana) Wells and Andy Wells, both of Grand Rapids, Rocky Osborn of Jackson, Rob Osborn of Charlotte, Branda (Tim) Jones of Gowen, Shannon (John) Freeman of Olivet; sisters, Shirley Hines of Charlotte, Zella Sundberg and brother-in-law Alfred Saunby, both of Marshall; brother-in-law, George Riddle and sister-in-law, Wanda Wells both of Charlotte; special friend; Dorothy Fuller of Nashville; great-grandchildren, Casey Emenhiser, Ronnie and Cayla Budd of Charlotte, Eric Vaughn of Lansing, Justin, Ben, Alexis Heagle of Byron Center, Brennan, Ainsley, Riley Wells of Grand Rapids, Anna and Tom Bostwick of Pennsylvania, Emily and Ben Carr of Florida, Paige and Chad Jones of Gowen, Ashley Kirchmeier of Olivet, Corey Osborn and Alexa Zimmerman of Charlotte, Hunter Osborn of Holt, Rayce and Garrett Osborn of Perry; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice; brother, Clare; sister, Arlene Saunby; and his parents. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Jenson officiating. Interment will be at Bosworth Cemetery, Charlotte, MI. Visitation will be Sunday, September 21, 2008 and Monday, September 22, 2008 from 3:00 - 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. both days. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice House or American Heart Association. Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Karen, Donnie, & Gary, I want to express my deep sympathies to you in your time of loss. The process of greif is a hard one and it takes time as we all know. The one thing I do know is the love of Uncle Les, your father will stay with you forever. I only wish I could be there to share in the celebration of his life.
