Lorraine Rondeau Obituary

Lorraine M. Rondeau Battle Creek Lorraine M. Rondeau, 92, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on her wedding anniversary, Friday, September 26, 2008, at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence; with her daughters and loving family at her side during her final days. Lorraine was born November 30, 1915 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Anthony and Olivine (LeClaire) Markowski. She graduated from St. Ann's Catholic High School in Alpena, MI. She was a homemaker. Lorraine married George W. Rondeau at St. Ann Catholic Church in Alpena on September 26, 1938. She was preceded in death by George, her husband of 55 years, on November 7, 1993. She is survived by six daughters, Gloria (Gordon) Miller of Augusta, GA, Diane Rondeau, RSM, of Sterling Heights, MI, Sandra (Robert) Wisniewski of Alpena, Darlene (Robert) LaMarre of Bettendorf, Iowa, Marcia (Douglas) Bracy of Battle Creek and Pamela T. Rondeau at home; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clarence C. (Patricia) Markowski of Alpena. She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and the Good Sam Motor Club. She enjoyed reading and traveling with her husband in their motor home. She enjoyed the fellowship of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad family, where her husband George was employed as an engineer for 34 years. Her greatest joy was her family, and especially loved holidays where "the more the merrier!" The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice, Dr. Ismailoglu and the staff on 2 Center at Battle Creek Health Center for their kindness and care. At the request of the family, friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where they will be received 4:00-8:00 p.m. and where a Vigil Service will be held 7:00 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Charles H. Fischer at St. Philip Catholic Church 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2008. Interment will follow in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions to Good Samaritan Hospice Care Residence would be appreciated. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com
