Delores Allen Obituary

Delores E. Allen Springfield Delores E. (Joseph) Allen, 71, of Springfield, MI, died Friday, October 3, 2008 at her home. She was born April 1, 1937 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Dona and Ethel (Osborne) Joseph. Delores is a 1955 graduate of Chelsea High School. She was employed at Clark Equipment Company, in customer service, for 11 years and then as a data processor for E.P.I. from 1991 until retiring in 1995. Delores is survived by Son: Gregg J. Allen of Battle Creek, MI; Daughter: Leslie M. (Skip) Johnson of Battle Creek, MI; Stepson: Danny D. (Rebecca) Allen of Chelsea, MI; Brothers: Robert E. (Rose) Joseph of Ocala, FL and Ronald G. Joseph of Chelsea, MI: Granddaughters: Shawna Holt and Lindsay Johnson of Battle Creek, MI; Grandson: Daniel Allen of Ann Arbor, MI; Brother-in-law: Jack Allen of Battle Creek, MI; Sisters-in-law: Joyce Allen of Hillsdale, MI and Thelma Bailey of Holt, MI; Special Friends: Frances Allen of Battle Creek, MI and Maxine Tysko of Jackson, MI; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her Parents; her Husband: Ira Allen (1995); and Son: Christopher L. Allen (1999). Delores enjoyed reading, gardening and was an avid sports fan. She loved spending time with granddaughters and helping her friends. She was a volunteer for the American Diabetes Assoc. and the Walk For Diabetes. Organ donation was dear to Delores's heart and she was a kidney donor for her son Christopher. She attended the Lakeview Baptist Church, the Calvary Baptist Church and was a former member of the American Legion Post #298. Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Thursday, October 9, 2008 after 2 p.m. where the family will be present 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. Brian E. Spencer, of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to American Diabetes Assoc., American Cancer Society or National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. Greg,Leslie and family, I am very sorry to here about your mom. She was such a very special aunt to me and Theresa,and our family. As a child growing up, I have always loved, and thought a lot of your mom,and dad. I will always remember the football fan Delores was, always winning money in the pools.
Delores was always very giving to all she new, never once saying no when I needed something.
She always had the ability to make me laugh when there wasn't much to laugh at.
Years after I was part of the family she contacted me to see if I wanted some of the memories that were left behind, that is the kind of person I remember Delores being. I am very sorry for the families loss, she was special.
