Deana M. Owens

Deana M. Owens Battle Creek Deana M. Owens, 87, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, October 6, 2008 at her home. She was born March 10, 1921 in Coldwater, Michigan, the daughter of Leonard and Zera (Hicks) Batterson. Deana was a member of the New Apostolic Church, enjoyed going to Burnham Brook and had worked at Taco Bell for several years. On November 4, 1982 she was married to Ralph John Owens who preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded by her parents, two sisters and three brothers. Surviving are her son: Larry Simmon and his wife Taeko of El Paso, TX; daughter: Melissa Moores of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren: Larry Simmon, Jr., Scott Simmon, Tina Simmon, Richard Hall, Michelle Rueda, Duane Mayer and Brandon Moores; two sisters: Norma Walterspaugh and Shirley Motter; and one brother: Lloyd Batterson. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. this evening. Private interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery.
