DeEtte Prideaux Obituary

DeEtte C. "Dottie" Prideaux Battle Creek DeEtte C. "Dottie" Prideaux, age 85, of Battle Creek, passed Monday afternoon, October 6, 2008, at the Kozy Komfort Adult Foster Care Home, Battle Creek. Dottie was born on November 26, 1922 in Hibbing, MN and was the daughter of George and Claire (Goethe) LaFreniere. She was a high school graduate and a veteran of World War II, having served her country as a W.A.V.E. Dottie worked as a secretary for the Superintendent of Pennfield Schools until she retired in 1974. She enjoyed arts and crafts and traveling. Friends and family meant the most to her, but she was proudest of her grandchildren. On November 6, 1944 in San Diego, CA, Dottie was united in marriage to George E. Prideaux, who preceded her in death on December 30, 1990. Surviving are her daughter: Michelle "Shelly" C. (Rick) Lockwood of Port St. Lucie, FL; her son: James "Jamie" E. Prideaux of Battle Creek; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren' and her sister: Audrey Nelson of San Luis Obispo, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Virginia Moyle. At the request of the family, friends may call on Thursday, October 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. The funeral service to celebrate Dottie's life will be held on Friday, October 10th, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James D. Sirks of the North Avenue Church of God, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions in Dottie's honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2300 Portage Street, Suite #341, Kalamazoo, MI 49001. Dear Jamie and Shelly,
Your Mom was a sweet, sweet woman. Always there when you needed her. My heart goes out to you and all the grandchildren. She will be missed and never forgotten.
