Milfred "Gus" Campbell Battle Creek Milfred G. "Gus" Campbell, age 85, of Battle Creek, died October 8, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. Formerly of Bridgeport, West Virginia, he was born in Grantsville, WV on May 15, 1923 to Guss and Veda (Propst) Campbell. Gus graduated from high school in Lumberport, WV. He attended college at Potomic State College (WV) and Fairmont State College (WV) and received his master's degree at West Virginia University. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He retired from Consolidated Natural Gas Co. (now, Dominion Resources) and was a member of the Vienna, WV, Masonic Lodge. Gus was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie A. Campbell. He is survived by his son, B. Douglas Campbell and his wife, Sandy, of Battle Creek and by three grandchildren, Stephen Campbell, Christen Campbell, both of Battle Creek, and Gregory Rousos of Florida. Also surviving are his brother, Gary Campbell and his wife, Carol, of Parkersburg, WV and two nieces, Marsha Campbell and Dana Hubbard. He was a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, WV where memorial services will take place and committal will be in the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery (WV) at a later date. Memorial contributions can be sent to Bridgeport United Methodist Church (WV) or Good Samaritan Hospice, Battle Creek. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home. www.shawfuneralhome.com

"Gus" was a wonderful man. He had a smile and a hug for everyone. He truly enjoyed being with his family. I will miss him very much.
He will be in our hearts forever.
