Charles E. Burch Evart Charles E. Burch, 82, of Evart, formerly of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at his home. He was born June 23, 1926 in Battle Creek the son of Charles and Dorothy (Higgins) Burch. He married Barbara J. Dolphin on August 10, 1946 in Battle Creek and she preceded him in death on March 8, 1992. Charlie graduated Battle Creek Central High School. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II. Charlie worked for U.S. Steel Supply until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed building and operating his own model airplanes and model boats. Charlie also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He very much enjoyed the Senior Citizen's Bowling Team. Charlie was a member of the Teamsters Local #34 of Kalamazoo, VFW Post #7979 in Evart and the Eagles Lodge. He is survived by his sons, Gary Joe Burch of Florida and Terry Edward Burch of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Larry Burch. Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Pastor Steven S. Olmstead officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to VFW Post #7979, Evart, Michigan or Cancer Fund-Evart Michigan. To the family of Charles Burch, I am very sorry to hear about your loss, as I know it is not easy.
Charlie was my Uncle. Though I only met him a couple times as a child, he was my Mothers Brother. Her name was Ruthe Crowe (Rice) passed away July 1998. Dorothy was their Mother.
