David Swinton Obituary

David Swinton Jr. Albion David Swinton Jr., age 85, of Albion, passed away October 7, 2008 at Tendercare of Albion. He was born June 9, 1923 in Salters, South Carolina to David, Sr. and Emma Jane (Bell) Swinton. On March 22, 1941, he was married to Eliza Conyers in Kingstree, South Carolina and she survives. David had been a resident of Albion for most of his life. He worked at the Albion Malleable as a laborer retiring in the late 1980s. He was a member of the Joe Louis Castle Masonic Lodge #17 -Albion. He was also a member of Leggett Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church - Albion. Besides his wife he is survived by: 3 Daughters, Ruth Annie Mae Swinton of Lansing, Emma Jane (William) Ray of Roanoke, VA, Daisy Mae (Rev. Robert Lorenzo) Johnson of Mobile, AL; 4 Sons, Howard (Linda) Swinton, Clifton Swinton, and Rolyn Emanuel Swinton, all of Albion, Sammie Swinton of Denver, CO; 16 Grandchildren; 23 Great-Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Sister, Maebe McCray of Kingstree, SC. David was preceded in death by his parents and 23 Brothers and Sisters. Visitation for Friends and Family will begin on Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, 711 Grace St. Albion, MI. The Family Hour will be from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Church with the Funeral Service starting at Noon at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Robert Lorenzo Johnson officiating.
