Lillian Hope Ripley Wellivere

Lillian Hope (Ripley) Wellivere Battle Creek Lillian Hope (Ripley) Wellivere, 79, of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, October 10, 2008 at Country Acres Assisted Living. She was born October 12, 1928 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Duward W. and Jessie O. (James) Ripley. She married Wallace T. "Wally" Wellivere on December 19, 1970 in Battle Creek and he preceded her in death. Hope graduated in 1947 from Kalamazoo Central High School. Hope worked in the clinical packaging area for the Upjohn Company for 34 years, retiring in June 1986. She had also worked after high school for 4½years at the Woolworth Store. Hope had lived in Kalamazoo, Toledo, Ohio and Ann Arbor. She came to Battle Creek from Kalamazoo in 1970. Hope was a member of the Upjohn C. Club and Valentine Singers of the Valentine Center. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, traveling, crocheting, camping with the 5th Wheel, reading, genealogy, bird watching, animal watching, flower gardening and growing tomatoes in the garden. She is survived by her son, William L. (Linda) Wellivere; brother, Robert (Jeanette) Ripley, Sr.; sister, Marsha L. (Paul) Wheater; granddaughters, Shannon and Stacy Wellivere; brother-in-law, Roland Jones; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Suzanne G. Jones. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to American Cancer Society.
