Perley J. Smith

Perley J. Smith Battle Creek Perley J. Smith, 93, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Evergreen Senior Care and Rehab Center in Springfield. She was born June 16, 1915 in Battle Creek the daughter of Rulef and Myrtle (Teachworth) Smith. Perley graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. She married William Irving Williams on March 3, 1933. Perley was a bookkeeper for his business, The Fire Extinguisher Service, for 20 years. She also worked for Grand Leader as a bookkeeper and at Calhoun Federal Savings and Loan as a teller. Perley lived in Montcalm County as a child and briefly in Dayton, OH and Bad Axe, MI. Surviving are her daughter, Sylvia Kay Fraser of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Russel C. Greenfield of Flint, Lee Ann Heistand of Tennessee and Susan Marie DuBois of Hastings; 5 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Burial of cremated remains will be in Striker Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to Sylvia Fraser.
