Richmond Williams Obituary

Richmond Williams, Jr. Springfield Richmond "Bones" Williams, Jr., 75, of Springfield, MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Battle Creek Health System. He was born October 12, 1933 in Cottonton, AL, the son of Rev. Richmond Williams and Lorean (Fletcher) Williams. Richmond had worked in maintenance for the Kellogg Company for 42 years, and retired in 1995. He married the former Pauline Kinnebrew on October 12, 1958 in Battle Creek; however his wife preceded him in death on May 4, 2000. Richmond is survived by his son: Gino L. Williams of Lansing, MI; two sisters: Beatrice Carson and Annie Bell Gibson, both of Battle Creek; four grandchildren: LaPresha Ledesma of Lansing, MI, LaKeysha and Ryan Morris of Virginia Beach, VA, Janika Ledesma of Lansing, MI, and Tyrice Trigg of Battle Creek; six great-grandchildren; two great-granddogs; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends from childhood - George Bell and his family, and godson: Bubba Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Pauline; three brothers: Roosevelt, Calvin and James Williams; and two sisters: Bonnie Mae Broadnax and Idella Carson. Richmond moved to Michigan when he was 4 years old from Alabama and graduated from Battle Creek Central High in 1953 where he played Basketball. He served his country well during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1955. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended First Salem Baptist Church. He was member of the Traveling Stars Quartet and Kellogg 25 Year Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially liked camping out and fishing. He loved his family and they loved him, especially his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service after 12 noon Thursday, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the First Salem Missionary Baptist Church (370 Capital Avenue, SW) with the Rev. Craig Tatum officiating. Entombment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial tributes may be made to American Diabetes Association. My condolence to the family, I had the pleasure of working with Richmond ( Mr. Bones ), for many years at the plant, He, George Bell ( Secret Squirrel ) and myself ( Dr. Pepper ) spent many enjoyable hours on the Radio's day and night before and after work, He will be missed.
