Albert Hocking Obituary

Albert Andrew Hocking, Jr. Springfield Went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2009, at the age of 59, after several years of declining health. Al was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Albert Andrew Hocking, Sr., and by his wife, Deborah K. (Flanders) Hocking. He is survived by his mother, Lucille J. (Hocking) Lesman of Otsego; son, Andy (Kathy) Hocking of Battle Creek; sister, Kathy (Rick) LaFlamme of Jackson; brother, Charles (Marcia) Hocking of Burr Oak; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Doug and Michelle Thorne, Bernie Mileski and Alma Todd. Al was born in Greenville, South Carolina, on September 16, 1949. He grew up in the Climax area, graduated from Galesburg High School and settled in Battle Creek where he was employed at Lakeview General Hospital for 18 years. A memorial service will be held at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple St., on Thursday at 1:00 p.m., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Al's family's heartfelt gratitude goes out to Heartland Health Care of Jackson, Allegiance Health System, and the Hospice Home of Jackson. Donations may be made in Al's honor to the Hospice Home of Jackson. www.langelands.com
