Cecelia Mackey Obituary

Cecelia M. (Born) Mackey Olivet Cecelia M. (Born) Mackey, age 96, of Olivet, MI, passed away Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Hope Landing Assisted Living in Charlotte where she had been a resident for 4 months. Mrs. Mackey was born June 3, 1912 in Bellevue, Iowa the daughter of Joseph C. and Mae G. (Baird) Born and had been an Olivet resident since 1973. She was a 1929 graduate of Dubuque, IA High School and had worked with the American Red Cross during World War Two. She was a member of the Olivet Congregational Church where she was a member and treasurer of the Women's Fellowship and served on the Board of Deacons, was a member of the Olivet College Women's Board where she had served as treasurer and was an Oak Chest volunteer. She also had been employed as a sales clerk in the Olivet College Book Store. Surviving are: her daughter, Martha (Richard) Pewe of Olivet; 5 grandchildren, Trudy (David) Mohre, Dr. Anne (Dr. Zarir) Khademian, Celia (Kim) Kerr, Timothy J. (Brigit) Pewe and Richard P. (Patti) Pewe, Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren, Noah, Caleb and Maya Kerr, Madeline Mohre, Gus and Carl Pewe, Richard III, Emily, Cecelia and Abram Pewe and Gordiya and Yasna Khademian; and sister-in-law, Virginia Born of Woodburn, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Philip J. Mackey in 1970, and brothers Joseph C. Born and Donald L. Born. At Mrs. Mackey's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held later at the Olivet Congregational Church and will be announced. Memorial contributions are suggested to the McLaren Hospice or the Olivet Congregational Church. Arrangements by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
