Georgia Smith Obituary

Georgia A. Smith Burlington Georgia Anna Smith, 95, of Burlington, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. She will be greatly missed by her son, Arthur D. (Mary Jo) Smith; daughter, Kay E. (Bernie) Outman; her grandchildren, Suzan Kader, Jeanne (Jim) Leonard, Karen (Ken) Affolder, Michael Kader, Amy Outman, Ronald (Laurie) Smith, Gerald (Patricia) Smith, Beth Ann (Brad) Polon; great-grandchildren, Brett, Britt, Ashlen, Ryan, Zachary, Tyler, Monica, Nathan, Samantha, Joanna, Ian and Heather; plus many nieces and nephews. Georgia was the daughter of Arthur E. and Anna (Underhill) Day and the eldest sister to Louise Marks, Margaret Kilgore and June Smith. They are all deceased. She was born August 17, 1913 on the family farm on 5 Point Highway in Charlotte. Georgia graduated from Bellevue High School in 1931 and married Cyril Smith on March 10, 1934. He died in 2006 and they were married for 72 years. After she retired from the Bellevue Post Post office, they moved to McAllen, Texas and lived there for 25 years. Georgia enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing cards and being with her family and friends. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Donations can be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence or Factoryville Bible Church in care of Arthur Smith, 4807 9 Mile Road, Burlington, MI 49029. I am sorry to hear one of my and my parents friends has passed on. although i have not been in touch, i can tell you, she and cyril were very nice people, I am sure she will be missed. They were long time friends of my parents, John & Joan Guthrie, through them i was able to meet and enjoy the company of her and her husband. My condolences to her family and friends. brenda evans (guthrie).
