Mildred Irene Spindlow Reisner Marshall Mildred I. (Spindlow) Reisner, age 81, of Marshall, died on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Reisner was born on March 13, 1927, in Marshall to Fred J. and Mary I. (Allen) Spindlow. She graduated from Marshall High School and earned her Master's Degree from Western Michigan University. She married Joseph D. "Joe" Reisner in Marshall. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2004. Mrs. Reisner was a co-owner and operator with her husband of Canoe magazine in Indiana for many years. She also was a teacher for deaf children for a short time. Prior to that, she also worked as an efficiency agent for the Upjohn Company for many years. Mrs. Reisner was a talented singer, and sang with many different choirs and symphonies. She sang with the Chicago Symphony Choir, Ann Arbor Symphony Chorus, Kalamazoo Junior Symphony, and Bach Festival Choir in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Reisner also was a soloist with the Bach Festival Choir and with the different symphonies. She also sang many solos for the Church of Christ Scientist for over 20 years. She enjoyed the outdoors, being an avid gardener and belonged to the Master Garden Club. She enjoyed kayaking and continued to kayak until her illness in the fall of 2008. She is survived by her sister, Freda Hamaker of Marshall, two stepdaughters, Claudia St. Pierre of Madison Heights, Michigan, and Elisabeth Moore of Rose Bay, Nova Scotia. She is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister Mary Jane Wood. At the request of Mrs. Reisner there will be no service or visitation. A private family committal service will take place at Oakridge Cemetery at a later date. Family requests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Funeral Home.
