Dale A. Fairchild

Dale A. Fairchild Lakeland, FL Dale A. Fairchild, 86, of Lakeland, Florida, and formerly of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009. He was born December 12, 1922 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Oran and Anna Marie (Schragg) Fairchild. Dale was a 1941 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he had worked at Kellogg's for 36 years. Following his retirement, he spent summers in Traverse City and winters in Lakeland. He was a member of the Kellogg's 25-Year Club, the American Federation of Grain Millers Local #3 and had been a member of Convis Union United Methodist Church. Dale enjoyed woodworking, playing bridge and fishing. On April 18, 1948 he was married to Lenora P. "Lee" Huggett, who preceded him in death on September 22, 1991. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother: Richard Fairchild and sister: Barbara Erard. In March of 1992 he married Ruth Stiver who survives. Also surviving are his daughter: Dr. Ann Marie Walcott of Sylvania; two grandchildren: Lieutenant Brett Walcott, U.S. Navy and Laura (Captain Joe, U.S. Army) Blattner; one sister: Elizabeth Owen of Farmville, SC; one brother: Oran A. Fairchild of Homer; and brother-in-law: Fred Erard of Battle Creek. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society.
