Clarence Bonnell Obituary

Clarence E. "Bonnie" Bonnell Marshall Clarence E. "Bonnie" Bonnell, age 87, of Marshall, died Monday at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida. Mr. Bonnell was born on October 7, 1921 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Frank M. and Clara (Kelley) Bonnell. He had lived in this area the majority of his life and was a graduate of St. Philip Catholic High School. Mr. Bonnell had been employed as a Core Maker for the Eaton Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1980. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy. In 1940, he married the former Mildred Rocco. That marriage ended in divorce. He then married the former Evelyn Maisner in 1968. She preceded him in death in 1996. Then in July of 1997, he married Marion Chichester Bramble in Marshall at the St. Mary Catholic Church. Bonnie was a member of the Marshall Moose Lodge and the St. Mary Catholic Church. He was an avid card player and enjoyed woodworking, refurnishing furniture and caning chair seats. He is survived by his wife, Marion; daughters, Bonnie (Claude) Laing of Marshall, Gale (David) Mead of Marshall and Jewel (Sam) Pace of Burlington; son, Terry (Carol) Bonnell of Battle Creek; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Arthur Bonnell of Kalamazoo. He was preceded in death by daughters, (infant) Muriel and Donna Rockwell; a son, Phillip Bonnell; brothers, George and Donald Bonnell; and sister-in-law, Frances Bonnell. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 Friday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. Rosary 6:30 p.m. Friday. A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Memorials are to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
