Erma Hency Obituary

Erma Hency Port St. Lucie, FL Erma Hency, 87, of Port St. Lucie, FL, died Tuesday, June 16, in Appleton WI from complications of pneumonia. She had been a resident of Port St. Lucie since 1999 moving from Battle Creek. She had been a resident of MI most of her life, living in Frankfort, Battle Creek, and Gaylord. She worked for the Battle Creek School system, at Post School as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher for 17 years before retiring. She was a preschool teacher at North Avenue Church Day Care in Battle Creek, in Florida she was a volunteer at Windmill Point Elementary and St. Lucie Elementary. She is survived by a daughter, Jackie Kendall of Fort Pierce, FL; a son, Richard Hency of Lansing; two stepsons, Dale Hency of Silver Springs, MD, Ted Hency of Appleton, WI; a brother, Robert Rommel of Elberta, MI; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death in 1992 by her husband of 46 years, Ray Hency. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jean and Retha, two brothers, Eddie and Kenny Rommel. There will be a family memorial service on Saturday, July 18, in Oxford, MI. Those who wish may make contributions to the Education Foundation in their community in Erma's name.

I had her in the 3rd grade, she was one of my favorite teacher's. She will alway's be remembered as a wonderful role model for a child to look up to. My heart goes out to you.

I knew the name the 2nd I saw it. What a wonderful, kind woman and great teacher. I went to Post school and she was one of those teachers you never forget. My thoughts are with you at this time.
