Karen Robbins Obituary

Karen S. Robbins Battle Creek Karen S. Robbins, 43, of Battle Creek died suddenly on August 27, 2009. She was born in Battle Creek on July 31, 1966 the daughter of Simmie and Cindy (Horwath) Hicks and graduated from Springfield High School in 1985. Karen married Tom E. Robbins in Battle Creek on May 20, 1995. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2006. Karen is survived by her son, Justin (Amanda) Hicks; her daughter, Kristina L. (Joe) Robbins; parents, Simmie and Cindy Hicks; brother, Simmie (Angie) Hicks; grandma, Lucille Hicks; and her grandchildren, Justin and Ricki. She is also survived by four nieces, Chelsie, Santella, Nancy, and Garie; 2 step-nieces; a step-nephew; special cousin, Lisa Keener; and special friends, Katrina Kelley, Tony Whitney, Brittani, Sylvia Favorite, Bill Rabideau and all the Hicks Racing fans. Karen was also preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Jesse Hicks Sr.; maternal grandparents, Frank and Lula Horwath; and an uncle, Jesse Hicks. Karen was an avid race fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR and the races at the Galesburg Speedway. The true love in her life was her family and watching her grandchildren. Karen liked to text on her phone and enjoyed her recent trip to the Firekeepers Casino and was looking forward to returning. At the request of the family, a memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2009 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family. simmie and cindy, i just wrote my heartfelt memories ...and cant find them so i have to start over..to tell ya both how much i love yas..i remember karen ..with her lil dark eyes ..she look so much like you simmie.. and cindy was so proud to be your woman and karens mommie...i had my husband drive me by the houses to nite,,i didnt reconize much ...i wanted to stop ,,i was scared id scared the neighbors...ha im so sorry from the bottom of my heart. love yas all from an old hillybilly girl..LOMA FAY

my condolence to the family.I remember when she came down with a suit case and said she is running away,could she stay we said yes but when she found out she had to do her own laundry she went right back home.We always had fun with her and loved to joke.I have a lot of memories of her and I'll never forget her..
