Frances Eitniear Obituary

Frances Elaine (Bradley) Eitniear Portage Frances Elaine (Bradley) Eitniear, 90, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Tendercare of Westwood on Drake Road in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Celebrating the life and passing of Fran, her family is remembering Fran's dedication to her loved ones, her farm, and her horses. Frances was preceded in death by her husband George of over 60 years in 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Penelope "Penny" Smith of Norfolk, Virginia; three grandchildren, J. Gavin Morgan of Seattle, Washington, Grayson Morgan and family of Omaha, Nebraska, and Andrea Loftus and family of Norfolk, Virginia; three great grandchildren, Benjamin Loftus and Mya Loftus of Norfolk, Virginia, and Sydney Azelea Morgan of Omaha, Nebraska; three sisters, Zella Muscott from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Louise Thomas of Waynesville, North Carolina, and Noreen Sidner of Lady Lake, Florida. Frances and George resided on the family farm in East Leroy for 35 years until they moved to Portage, Michigan. While they lived in East Leroy they were very active in the Sonoma United Methodist Church, and she assisted in the farm operation, raising championship horses. Frances was active in the American Quarter Horse Association and the Michigan Quarter Horse Racing Association. A special Victorian high tea in Frances's honor will be at the Spencer Family Funeral Home in Athens at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 6, with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 4 p.m., Pastor Sandra Gastian officiating. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek. Because of Fran's love of animals, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to the Kalamazoo County Animal Shelter or animal service association of your choice. I knew Frances the last 4 years of her life. I used to visit Frances and help pay her bills. She was a lot of fun. Always had stories about her family to share. I don't think I ever visited her when she wasn't wearing pink. I hope you and George are now together for eternity.
