Lois Downey Obituary

Lois E. Downey Battle Creek Lois E. Downey, 81, of Battle Creek passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born on May 23, 1928 in Detroit to William W. and Margaret (Phillips) Pattison. Lois graduated from John J. Pershing High School in Detroit. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Mt. Carmel School of Nursing, Mercy Hospital in Detroit. Lois was first employed as a RN at Leila Hospital and then Post Cereals, Medical Dept. retiring in 1987. She married John M. Downey on April 21, 1951, he preceded her in death on August 3, 2000. Lois is survived by a daughter, Margaret (Steven) Ughetti; 6 sons, John (Janet) Downey, Paul (Kelly) Downey, Norm (Bonnie) Downey, David (Teresa) Downey, James (Jennifer) Downey, and Robert (Lisa) Downey; 23 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Pat Downey in 1978, a brother, William Pattison and a sister, Norma Foster. Lois was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, golfing, and shopping. Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Rev. Robert Creagan officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Calhoun County Medical Care Facility.

John & Family ~ Rudy was in Battle Creek and called Hans to let him know of your Mom's passing. Wanted to let you know that we're thinking of you and your family at this time.
