Mary Madden Obituary

Mary Lee Madden Battle Creek Mary Lee (Maralee Avonne) Madden, 84 of Battle Creek died Sunday November 1, 2009 at Laurels of Bedford. She was born on November 3, 1924 in Battle Creek to Arthur C. and Estella M. (Kunkle) Lytton. Mary Lee married Hiram Madden on June 20, 1944 in Battle Creek, he preceded her in death in 1978. She was employed by Transamerica Insurance retiring in 1989. Mary Lee is survived by sons, Donald R. (Carol) Madden and James A. (Kristine) Madden, both of Battle Creek; five grandchildren, Timothy Madden, Jon Madden, Douglas Madden, Kellie (Kevin) Thomas, and David (Jamie) Madden; great-grandchildren, Timothy Jr., and Tyler Madden, Kortnie, Kiersten and Kelsey Thomas, and MyKala and Myia Madden; step-grandchildren, Eric, Judy, Sherrie, Cammie, Rodger, Cindy, Bill, Linda, Nancy, and Bob Madden, Peggy and Jack Hunn, and Barbara Cooley. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Verle J. Lytton; sister, Helen Dean; and step-children, Dormer Madden, Gertrude Price, and Robert Madden. Mary Lee was a charter member of Family Altar Chapel and attended First Assembly of God Church.She was a Sunday school teacher and youth leader at Second Pilgrim Holiness Church and had taught Sunday School at First Pilgrim Holiness Church. She enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, reading, southern gospel music and Gaither videos. Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Travis Davis of Family Altar Chapel officiating. Interment will follow at Newbre Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Family Altar Chapel or Burnham Brook.
