Edwin A. Torrey

Edwin A. Torrey Edwin A. Torrey, 82 passed away November 16, 2009 at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL after several months of failing health. He was born November 22, 1926 in Albion, MI to Edwin A and Flora Marie Torrey. Edwin served in the US Navy during WW II on the USS Larson. After returning from active duty he worked at the Albion Ford garage for eight years as Parts Manager. Cars were always a passion of his. In 1954 he started the Torrey Trucking Company. In 1955 he joined Brooks Foundry of Albion where he was Vice President for several years. In 1975 he and his family moved to Singer Island, FL. There he and his wife owned and operated the Tahiti on the Inlet in Palm Beach Shores for 27 years. He was also involved in several small businesses in the area. Edwin was a member of the Duck Lake Country Club of Albion since 1954. Golfing and his golf friends were very special to him. He was also an active member of the Foundry Men's Association. He was survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean and three children. Jim Torrey and Lisa of Hendersonville, TN, Dianne Sudnykovych of North Palm Beach, FL and David and Cindy Torrey of Jacksonville, FL, six grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his brothers, Clarence (Joanne) Torrey of Albion and Daryle Torrey of Concord, MI, several nieces and nephews, along with many special friends. Edwin was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Ribbey, Rose Mary Sherman and three brothers, Jack, Claire and Max Torrey. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday November 22, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Erie Street Chapel of J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 208 W. Erie Street, Albion, MI 49224. Funeral Services will be Monday November 23, 2009 at 11:00a.m. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Nehring officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery -Albion.
