Shirley Tidd Obituary

Shirley A. Tidd Springport Shirley A. Tidd, age 73, formerly of Homer and Albion, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at her residence. She was born June 16, 1936 to Earl and Mary (Taylor) Pelton in Spring Arbor, Michigan. On July 2, 1955 she married James W. Tidd in Homer, Michigan and he is surviving. Shirley came to Homer as a small child moving to Albion in 1980. She was a Graduate of Homer High School in 1954 then she attended Western Michigan University. She was the Former Office Manager of Calhoun Foundry in Homer. She worked with her husband at the Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels as Office Manager. She was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church, Duck Lake Country Club & Ladies Association and Hospital Service League. She has been Bridge Chairman and currently Co-chairman of the Bridge Club at Duck Lake. She was Chairperson for Couples Bridge since 1981. She was an Avid Bridge Player and loved her Needlepoint. She was also founder of the Book Swap Club of Duck Lake. She is survived by: Husband- James W. Tidd of Springport; daughter- Robin (Donald) Drumm of Homer; sons- J. Kevin Tidd and Nancy Travis of Litchfield, Andrew Scott Tidd and Louise Dean of Colorado Springs, CO; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Dorrine Hanks; Jeanne Elder; 5 brothers Paul Truax; Jim, Ike, Dick, and Bob Pelton. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 great-grandchild Visitation for Family and Friends will be Friday November 20, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Erie Street Chapel of J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 208 West Erie Street, Albion, MI 49224. Funeral Services will be Saturday November 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Homer. Assistance with Memorial Contributions to: Homer United Methodist Church, Homer Public Library, Duck Lake Country Club Library Fund, or Donors Choice is available at the funeral home. www.kevintiddfuneralhome.com
