Robert Hiscock Obituary

Robert D. Hiscock Battle Creek Robert D. Hiscock, age 93, of Battle Creek, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Oakes at North Pointe Woods. Robert was born on November 27, 1916, in Climax, Michigan, the son of Leonard C. and Nellie (Parker) Hiscock. He had been a lifelong resident of the area and was a 1935 graduate of Lakeview High School. He was united in marriage to the former Mary E. Kay on April 12, 1941, she preceded him in death in 2009. Robert farmed at his home on 11 Mile Road all his life. He was a member at Convis Union United Methodist Church and was involved in the Men's Choir, was president of the Men's Club, head of pastorial parish, chairman of the board at the church, involved in God's Little Acres helping friends with farming. He was a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau and over the years held different offices. He was also chairman of soil conservation in Marshall. Robert and Mary enjoyed square dancing with the Rolling Squares Club and camping at Tri-Lakes in Marshall. Surviving are a daughter, Sue A. (Michael) Poteet of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Kurtis Maclane and Heather Maclane-Bootz; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Francis (Elizabeth) Hiscock of Pentwater; and a sister, Barbara (Duane) Brooks of Midland. He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Hiscock; a brother, Kenneth Hiscock; and a sister, Thelma Kay. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2010, at the funeral home with The Rev. Sueann Hagen of Convis Union United Methodist Church and The Rev. Thomas Hiscock officiating. Interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to the Convis Union United Methodist Church.
