Robert Neumeyer Obituary
Robert L. "Pretzel" Neumeyer, 67, of Swansea, Ill., born Nov. 12, 1939, in Belleville, Ill., died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Neumeyer was a letter carrier retired from the U.S. Post Office. He was also retired from the St. Clair County Building Commission and a co-owner of Swansea Electrical Supply. More recently, he worked for his son at SJN Enterprises in Swansea, Ill. Bob was retired from the Swansea Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill.; the Swansea Patriots; and the American Legion. He was a former member of the Swansea Park Board and had served on the board of the Little Knights Football Club. Mr. Neumeyer was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy L. and Margaret, nee Rehg, Neumeyer; and a brother, Donald C. Neumeyer.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn L., nee Haas, Neumeyer, whom he married Jan. 6, 1962; three sons and a daughter, Robert L. (Vickie) Neumeyer II and son, Louie, of Millstadt, Ill.; Lori (Mike) Hutton of Lake In The Hills, Ill., Steven (Tracy) Neumeyer of Swansea, Ill., and children, Hannah, Jesse, and Steven and his son Seth; and Douglas (Shelley Crotty) Neumeyer of Swansea, Ill., and son, J. Dylon; and a brother, Ralph (Darlene) Neumeyer of Swansea, Ill., and children, Michael and Rachel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John's Foundation (Burn Unit) or to the Swansea Patriots for the Village of Swansea parks. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. A Swansea Fire Department ritual will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., with the Rev. Matthew Elie officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.

To the Neumeyer family, I was so sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I know first hand how devasting the loss of someone in your immediate family is. A part of you goes with them, and your life is never the same. I pray for your whole family that you know he is in a better place free from pain, and is your special guardian angel. I only met him at my Kelly's funeral but i felt he was a thoughtful and genuinely kind person as did all of my family. Peace to all of your family during this difficult time. Bob was a fun guy to be around in high school and beyond. We called him "Pretzel" but he was straight as an arrow. A good man with a great heart.

from Jefferson Grade School in
